About James Brown


James completed his undergraduate training at QUT in Brisbane and a Master of Psychology program through Swinburne University in Melbourne. James is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Clinical Psychologists and is endorsed by Medicare as a provider of clinical psychology services. Over the course of his career James has worked in a number of consulting and clinical psychology settings, including his own private practice. Currently, James is a Lecturer in Psychology and Counselling at the University of Southern Queensland, based at the Toowoomba Campus James also maintains a small private practice. James’ research interests are in the area of fatherhood, including fathers’ use of humour in their homes, work-life integration, and the importance of relationship closeness between fathers and their children.

Since 2002 James has been engaged as a public speaker and facilitator across a number of organisations. Topics usually cover areas such as communication, parenting, and work-life balance, stress and time management. Participants find James to be a very engaging speaker, with a gift for making sessions both fun and motivating.

James is a father of four children and enjoys family time, music, cooking, and travel.
